A rookie out of North Carolina, Johnson appeared in 49 games (one start) for the Suns prior to the suspension of the season on Mar. 11. He saw 20.3 minutes per contest and averaged 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists, while hitting 1.9 threes per game at a 39.7 percent clip. Johnson made his NBA debut on Oct. 26, scoring four points in a win over the Clippers. Johnson scored in double-figures for the first time on Oct. 30 in Golden State, when he finished with 12 points and three rebounds in 14 minutes. Johnson scored in double-figures five times in a six-game span from Nov. 10 through Nov. 21. In that stretch, he averaged 13.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22.7 minutes per game. On Mar. 3 against Toronto, Johnson scored a career-high 21 points, hitting 5-of-13 three-point attempts. He also added four rebounds, two assists, a career-best three blocks and one steal. Against Denver on Dec. 23, Johnson finished with 11 points and a then-career-best seven rebounds. In his lone start before the restart (Feb. 10 at LAL), Johnson had eight points, four assists and three steals in 22 minutes. When the season resumed in Orlando, Johnson entered the starting lineup and helped lead Phoenix to a perfect 8-0 record during seeding play. Johnson scored in double-figures in six of those games, including an 18-point outing in a win over Oklahoma City on Aug. 10. He logged a pair of double-doubles in Orlando, highlighted by a 19-point, 12-rebound, four-assist effort in an Aug. 2 win over Dallas.
