2024 Fantasy Outlook
Tonyan burst onto the scene in 2020, developing excellent chemistry with Aaron Rodgers en route to 586 yards and a whopping 11 touchdowns. The tight end regressed with just two touchdowns through eight games in 2021, then missed the second half of that season due to a torn ACL. He bounced back a bit in his final season with the Packers, posting 470 yards (the second-highest total of Tonyan’s career) and two TDs. Tonyan’s production then cratered on the Bears in 2023, as he finished with just 112 yards and no touchdowns as Cole Kmet’s backup. The 30-year-old free agent remains unsigned heading into 2024, and he’s likely to settle for a backup role. Even if injuries or other circumstances clear the path for him to start somewhere, anyone expecting the 2020 Tonyan to reemerge will likely be left disappointed. Read Past Outlooks
Finds home in Minnesota
Tonyan and the Vikings agreed to terms Thursday on a contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Tonyan suited up for all 17 games with the Bears last season, but he secured only 11 of 17 targets for 107 yards. He joins a Minnesota tight end room behind T.J. Hockenson (knee), who isn't a lock to be ready for Week 1 as he works his way back from a serious knee injury. That could give Tonyan the opportunity to compete with Josh Oliver and Johnny Mundt for an expanded early season role.

Joins old teammate in Minnesota
Tonyan agreed to terms with the Vikings on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end was a bit player during his only year in Chicago in 2023, posting 11 receptions for 112 yards on 17 targets across 17 games. In Minnesota, Tonyan, who has a pair of 50-plus catch seasons in his career, will reunite with one-time Packers teammate Aaron Jones, who signed with the Vikings earlier this offseason.

During the first five years of his career in Green Bay, Tonyan was at his best in 2020, when he caught 52 of 59 targets for 586 yards and 11 touchdowns. That was one of the most efficient seasons we've seen from a tight end not named Travis Kelce or George Kittle. Last year, Tonyan's 67 targets were the most he's had in a campaign, which he turned into his second-most productive season (470 yards and two TDs). Now in Chicago, he'll go from being the clear No. 1 option to a backup role behind Cole Kmet. Based on Tonyan's past success, if Kmet misses time, the former could become a fantasy factor.
