2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Bengals appear to favor Zack Moss as their starting running back after signing Moss to a two-year, $8 million contract in free agency, but Moss' pay is not prohibitively high and he has had consistent durability troubles even going back to his days at Utah. In other words, there's reason to think Moss won't quite see as high of a workload as Joe Mixon did before him. The Bengals might more so need a rotation between Moss and Brown, for the sake of both players. Moss does no good for Cincinnati if he's injured, and history says Moss will generally get injured every so often unless given according relief. Brown can provide at least that, and there's a chance the former Illinois standout and 2023 fifth-round pick eventually takes the starting role in Cincinnati some point down the line. Brown is a capable runner and receiver both, and he's actually heavier than Moss if the most recent height/weights are to be believed (215 pounds to 205). Brown is otherwise much faster than Moss (4.43-second 40 vs. 4.65 seconds). Brown has a chance to play more than most 'backup' runners in 2024, and in a good offense. Read Past Outlooks

Looks set for No. 2 role
Brown appears primed to work as the top backup to Zack Moss following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bengals didn't select a single running back across 10 picks in this year's draft, so even if the team brings in a handful of talented UDFAs, Brown looks like a notable winner for fantasy purposes. He flashed across 12 appearances as a rookie last season, and while Moss' experience with a large workload and on third downs may make him the favorite for the No. 1 role, Brown's short-area burst could make him an effective complementary option. If Brown can put together a solid offseason and push for increased touches, he could be an interesting late-round sleeper in 2024 drafts.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Lead back role possible in '24
Brown could have a strong chance of taking over as the Bengals' No. 1 back in 2024, with Joe Mixon potentially set to be released before a roster bonus comes due March 18, per Ben Baby of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Baby notes Mixon is due $3 million on March 18, but the Bengals can secure $5.8 million in cap savings by releasing him before that date. Brown logged just 58 total touches across 12 games as a rookie in 2023, yet the combination of the explosiveness he flashed and a college resume that included a 1,643-yard, 10-touchown season on the ground as a senior at Illinois in 2022 could be enough to convince the team Mixon is expendable.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Brown should be taken more seriously than the typical fifth-round pick after demonstrating an adept skill set as both a runner and receiver at Illinois, along with strong athletic testing at the combine. Brown (5-10, 209) isn't built for a workhorse role in the NFL, but he has the long speed (4.43 40) and short-area burst (127-inch broad jump) to pose an explosive threat as a runner and receiver. The last two years he rushed for 2,648 yards (5.3 YPC) and 15 touchdowns and caught 41 of 49 targets for 382 yards and three touchdowns (83.7 percent catch rate, 7.8 YPT) in 22 games for Illinois. The Bengals let Samaje Perine walk, and Brown is faster and more skilled than both Trayveon Williams and Chris Evans. With Joe Mixon seemingly tempting league disciplinary scrutiny with a pair of bizarre off-field events, Brown could be closer to the field than most assume.
